Halloween Dirt Cake
Dirt Cake is a great recipe for kids and parents to do together. It also makes a
great (and creepy!) Halloween dessert. Buy small clay (or plastic) flower pots
and a toy shovel. Wash well before using. Make a gooey brownie batter and bake
or use a lot of Oreo Cookies. If you're using brownies, then once the brownies
are cool, crumble and shovel some into each pot. Mix in bits of gummy worms and
other candy bugs, licorice etc.
If you really want to make it a Halloween treat, decorate it with oval or
rectangular shaped cookies that you can decorate as a tombstone. Decorate the
cookies with icing to say: "Boo!" or "RIP" etc. Or use small spiders and bugs or
anything else that strikes your fancy. You can also decorate the pots
themselves! Quick and easy and lots of fun for the whole family! If you don't
want to use flower pots, anything else will work like a tin-foil pan (see
picture) which can be purchased at any Wal-Mart or any similar store.
Birthday Dirt Cake
If you are gearing more towards a birthday, then you can make chocolate
pudding and stir it up with clumpy Oreo Cookie pieces or just sprinkle the top
like shown in the picture. Next, just decorate it with Gummy Worms and birthday
candles.
